DIPLOMA IN CIVIL ENGINEERING

This course aims at producing highly qualified, efficient technicians capable of meeting the requirements of the basic level of the Civil Engineering field.

During the course of study, the student is exposed to various subjects of Civil Engineering such as Planning, Drafting (both manual and computer aided), Surveying, Estimation & Costing, Construction Technology, Basics of Highway, Railway, Bridge, Airport, Tunnel & Harbour Engineering. The course also offers adequate exposure to Reinforced Concrete Structures, Quality Control, Material Testing, Construction Management & Entrepreneurship, Professional Practice & Office Procedures. Students also get a feel of Extensive Survey, Building Drawing, Irrigation & Bridge Drawing & Structural Engineering Drawing. Students are also exposed to software like AUTOCAD & STAAD.


HIGHER STUDIES OPTIONS

After completion of the course the Diploma students can directly join for III Sem B.E. courses in the respective branches 15% seats are reserved for Diploma holders or even they can go for the Associate Member of Institution of Engineer (AMIE) as a external candidate conducted by Institution of Engineers (India) Kolkata.

CAREER OPTIONS

At present good placement opportunities are available for diploma holders in the field of Civil Engineering, both in Government & Private Sectors. They can be absorbed as site engineers involved in supervision, draftsman (with computer knowledge), surveyors, & personnel in-charge of quality control, estimation work & office procedures. They can establish their own consultancy in the civil engineering & construction fields or become Licensed Class I Contractors.

Eligibility

  • As per the norms laid down by Director of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka
  • Non-Karnataka students should obtain Eligibility Certificate issued by the Department of Technical Education, Govt. of Karnataka
  • Karnataka students who have passed class X in ICSE or CBSE should also obtain Eligibility Certificate issued by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka
  • Duration : 3 Years (6 Semesters)
  • Intake : 45 Seats
  • Under Lateral Entry Scheme
  • 20% seats Reserved for III Sem BE Course in respective branches for Diploma Holders Reservation of seats
  • 15% seats are reserved for Schedule Caste and 5% for Schedule Tribes students as per the norms of Director of Technical Education Government of Karnataka.
